Here is the story of my virgin hair. In my life, people over and over comment how much they like/love my hair (especially hairdressers). What has changed? When I went to get the ends trimmed in June, my (new to me) hairdresser told me she also made wigs. She called the other hairdressers over and they oohed and ahhed at my hair. All I know to do is smile and say thank you.
A month earlier, my car was hit and insurance totaled it. Short some money for my new car (insurance never pays out enough), I decided to sell my hair. September 5, 2018 I cut it off. It was getting hard to manage and it is hot in the summer. No worries, my hair grows fast…so it seems. This hair took less than 3 years to grow out with a few hair cuts here/there (never intending to grow long and sell…just living life).
Here are my hair details. Feel free to ask if you have more hair related questions.
The CUT length is 14ish inches. My hair has body (slight natural wave). I will post photos of the hair before and after the cut with tape measure. It is hard to pull cut hair straight for an exact length. Cut in four sections to get the most of the length.
My hair is thick (at least 4″ around) and thick in each strand. I don’t know how you could get more hair on my head. It is not fine. I don’t touch other people’s hair, so I don’t know how to describe it.
I have a toddler, so washing my hair can be a luxury. I tried to wash it once or twice a week in the mornings with Hempz shampoo and conditioner. (Me sleeping on wet hair and expecting it to look wonderful in the morning is only a dream.) Ideally, a wash every day (like when I didn’t have a kid) is what I would be doing. Because my hair knotted when I slept on it, I would comb it before my shower, in my shower (with the conditioner after letting set a few minutes) and after. This way getting knots out wasn’t so bad, as I could easily pull a handful of hair out every day and no one would notice (my hair is that thick…my husband is jealous). I might play with my hair, running my fingers thru it, but it is unlikely I would comb my hair the rest of the day.
My hair would air dry. It took hours to dry fully. Sometimes I would put it in a ponytail, but not frequently. I can’t recall a time I put a styling product in my hair. Hairdressers did when they styled my hair after a cut, but that was every 6 -12 months.
My hair is NOT dyed. It can appear different colors based on how the sunlight hits it, but it has never been colored. It has natural highlights.
I DO NOT smoke, do drugs or drink alcohol.
I am a vegan and take a multivitamin every day. I am a stay-at-home mom that takes my kid places every day. I don’t sit in front of a TV with him…we go and do. Am I in tip top shape? No. Still would like to lose 8-10 pounds from having the kids…so I am an average person. I am ‘puffy’…ha! Not overweight.
Rounded hair cut vs. all straight to keep the weight of my hair around my face lighter.
Photographs taken in natural sunlight outdoors. I even put my cut hair on a clean pillow case for taking a photo outdoors of the length when it was cut. I wish I could upload more photos…but 10 is the max allowed.
What more do you need or want to know?
Someone already requested proof that I did cut my hair, so I have attached a new photo showing this.
